09/04/06 - Galesburg Speedway

The IL. / WI. division of CSR made its fourth and final appearance for the Super Cup Showdown at Galesburg Speedway.  Track conditions were poor which led to a few early crashes.  Ken Jones took home the feature win for the open division in a shortened feature and Camdon Murphy took home the win for the kids.  The Labor Day race at Rockford was rained out. We will be wrapping up the season at Lake Geneva Speedway September 29th.

The only suspense in this weeks junior division supercup race was who would come in second behind Camden Murphy.  At the drop of the flag, Murphy blew past pole sitter Morgan Schissel and was seriously challenged for the front spot.  Schissel and Lipstreuer ran within car lengths of each other, but after falling to second at the drop of the flag, Schissel never gave up that spot.  Lipstreuer finished third, followed by Greg Ballard, Kelsey Dunlap and Cheyenne Ballard.
In the adult division feature, Jake Jump motored past teammate Alex Y. to take the lead. While the following pack of cars battled 2 and 3 wide, Jake was able to pull away from the field to take the Feature Race win.

This might have been the most exciting racing yet by the drivers in the junior division.  From start to finish and from front to back the 12 lap feature was a crowd pleaser.  At the drop of the flag Lipstreuer and Schissel got a jump on pole sitter Murphy and Greg Ballard.  It looked for the first five or six laps like Lipstreuer was in command.  Then, coming out of turn two, Schissel passed for the lead.  Shortly after, Lipstreuer, Murphy and Greg Ballard ran three wide into turn three, pushing Lipstreuer high up into the turn while Murphy and Ballard passed underneath.  With two laps to go, and Schissel having opened up a 5-6 car lead on Murphy, the yellow flag came out for a spin in two.  The field tightened up for the re-start but Schissel got a strong jump and held onto the lead for the checkered.  Murphy came in second and Ballard, after  some near contact with Lipstreuer on the back straight coming out of two, took third.  Lipstreuer, Dunlap and Cheyenne Ballard rounded out the field.  Special thanks to Skyler Murphy for driving the heat race while Cheyenne recovered from a spin in practice and for sticking around for the feature to build a field

Another exciting night at LGR for CSR! Several sponsors were treated to a private suite with cake and cookies provided by Folsom's Bakery! Alex Y. dominated the dash and a heat race, holding off Mick Ellis for the wins. Andy Forster made a charge to the front to win his heat. In the feature, Alex got out to a good start, but Jeff Myers, starting mid-pack, cruised to the front and created an exciting battle for the lead. A late caution lead to a green-white-checker finish.  Erik Gehrke stole the second spot on the restart but was unable to get a run on winner Jeff Myers.

08/05/06-New Paris Speedway

Three of four events now in the books.  Even though car counts were down from previous show downs the racing was intense all night long.  The 30 lap feature only saw one caution on lap 3 when Alyssa Myers spin in turn two.  The rest of the race went caution free.  The Junior division has really stepped up the pace with making the racing mucxh more close and competitive.  Great job goes out to everyone.

07/28/06  Lake Geneva Raceway  Junior Division

It was a race to the finish between Cody Lipstreuer and quick qualifier Morgan Schissel at Lake Geneva Friday night, but it did not come without suspense.  In the heat, Camden Murphy took the win when Lipstreurer and Schissel got tangled up in turn 2 early in the race.  In the feature, Cody & Morgan jumped out to an early lead, leaving the rest of the pack to battle 3rd on down.  After playing follow the leader for 8 laps, Schissel put a pass on Lipstreuer coming out of two.  On lap 9, Lipstreuer took Schissel in the same place.  On lap 10 it appeared Cody had the race well in hand when he came down on Schissel  on the back straight after the two had been running briefly side by side.  Schissel was not content to simply settle for second place, though, and on the white flag lap in turns 3 & 4 had a run that brought him within inches of victory.  Lipstreuer was not to be denied on this night and hung on for the checker and the victory lane picture.  Murphy took 3rd, followed by Alyssa Myers and "little" Kenny Jones and "young" Mikey Whitmore (thanks for the help guys!).

07/22/06  Lake Geneva Raceway.

Saturday was a great night for racing despite almost being cancelled beause of the rain.  A large storm hit cancelling qualifying but soon enough the track was dry and CSR got out racing.

Congratulations to Alex Yendrzeski on his first ever feature win.   Geat Job!

07/12/06

The Junior Division of CSR made the first of 2 Wednesday night appearances at the Rockford Speedway on July 12.  By the end of the night, the Juniors had two more first time winners.  The heat race was won by Cody Lipstreuer, his first win of the year, while Grag Ballard, in his first year of racing, got his first win of the year with an "at the checkered flag" pass of Lipstreuer.  The next Junior division race is July 28th at Lake Geneva Raceway.

07/08/06

The Central States Region Super Cups made their one and only visit to Anderson Speedway for the second of four races in the Midwest SuperCup Showdown.  The racing was intense especially the second heat race with cars running 4 wide around the high banked oval for the entire race.  Heat wins go out to Gary Whitson, Mick Ellis and Dakota Potts.  Congratulations to Dakota on his first ever open class heat win.  We thought the feature was going to stay green from start to finish but a caution came out on lap 29 slowing the field.  The feature event went to Gary Whitson giving him a strong lead in the points for the Showdown.

07/01/06

Almost one month since we were at Rockford Speedway and it was great to be back.  Although our lowest car count of the season due to the holiday we still put 16 cars on the track and put on some great racing.  Jake Jump cleaned house with both his first heat win and feature win of the season.  The slow heat was won by Sam Morici.

06/23/06

It was great to have the adults and kids together two weekends in a row.  No surprise but the Super Cups put on the best racing of the evening with "Bumper to Bumper" racing all night long.  Jeff Myers scored his first feature win of the 2006 season and although non restricted it looks like Alyssa Myers finally put her fears of driving behind her with an impresive race with the JR's.

Junior Division racing at Lake Geneva Speedway was hot on Saturday night.  The heat race was all Alyssa Myers, who moved from the back of the pack to first within two laps and took the checkered flag 4 laps later for her first heat win.  In the feature, it was again all Myers until a loose spark plug cap left her stranded on the back straight on lap 9 of a 12 lap feature.  From that point on, it was a three car race with quick qualifier Morgan Schissel taking the checkered flag.  Cody Lipstreuer and Greg Ballard battled it out for second.  Ballard tried to get around Lipstreuer coming out of 2 on the last lap, but Lipstreuer held him off to take 2nd, forcing Ballard to settle for 3rd.  Camden Murphy, Cheyenne Ballard and Myers rounded out the field.

06/17/06

The Super Cups made their first appearance of two scheduled events at New Paris Speedway this year.  Both the adult and Jr. divisions were in attendance and the racing was both by the large crowd and the racing facilty.  6 kids made the Jr. feature while the fans were amazed with 26 adults taking to the 1/4 mile raceway.  The kids division saw Mackenzy Piller take the win while the adult feature got off to a ruff start with several cautions.  After lap 15 it was clear racing the rest of the way with Tim Phillips taking home the win.  All of CSR thanks New Paris for their hospitality and we all look forward to our return in August.

06/14/06 - Milwaukee Mile

The CSR Junior Division made its second trip to the Milwaukee Mile on Wednesday night.  In the feature only event, Morgan Schissel started along side pole sitter Alyssa Myers and sprinted to the front as the green flag fell.  For the next ten laps the race was for second and third place with Myers, Cody Lipstreuer, Greg Ballard and Camden Murphy all contending at different points.  Lipstreuer and Ballard appeared to have the strongest cars on this night, finishing 2nd and 3rd behind Schissel, who claimed his second win in as many races at the Mile.  Rounding out the field was Murphy, Myers and Cheyenne Ballard.

06/10/06-Lake Geneva Raceway

As usual CSR put on some of the best racing of the evening.  18 cars made an appearance at Lake Geneva Speedway.  The feature event went cautionless until lap 17 when the #11 got into the back of the #5J causing a spin.  When the race resumed Ken Jones finished in first with Jeff Myers, Mick Ellis and Andy Forster rounding out the rest of the field.

06/03/06-Rockford Speedway

The first ever "Midwest Super Cup Showdon" was a great success with over 40 cars making an appearance at the 17 degree high banked oval of Rockford Speedway.  Congratulations to all of our winners and CSR thanks all the groups that traveled long distances to race with our series.  Contrary to everyones belief you can race at Rockford Speedway with large car counts with out wrecking a lot of cars.  Great job! goes out to all drivers that attended.
05/27/06

An exciting night in front of a record size crowd at Lake Geneva. Jake Jump once again stole the pole from the  17 car field. Andy Forster was hard to pass and won the trophy dash while Erik Gehrke and Brandon Scurto won their heats.  The feature race was one of the closest finishes in CSR history! At the start of the race Mick Ellis and Gehrke traded for the lead while Jeff Myers was moving up from the back. At the finish line Forster and Myers pulled along Gehrke for a three wide finish! By just inches Gehrke won his first feature of 2006.

05/24/06

The CSR Junior Division made its solo debut at the famed Milwaukee Mile Wednesday night, bringing six cars to the first of its four appearances at the Summer Shoot-out series.  The races are run on a tight infield track that more closely resembles a dog-leg right par three than a racing oval, but when the green flag flew for the feature, it looked for a moment like Cody Lipstreuer, pole sitter Morgan Schissel and Alyssa Myers were going to try to get through  turn 1  three wide.  Instead, Lipstreuer got there first, followed by Schissel and Myers.  Dakota Potts and the Ballard siblings lined up behind them.  Lipstreuer held the lead for six laps while Potts took over third from Myers.   Except for a brief challange by Schissel coming out of turn 4, Lipstreuer appeared unbeatable.  But on the next lap, he spun and was passed by Schissel, Potts and Myers.  Following a green/white/checker restart off a yellow, Potts made a brief run on Schissel, but got caught in lapped traffic.  On the final lap, Myers got by Potts in a race to the flag, but it was Morgan Schissel for his first ever Super Cup win.  Cody Lipstreur finished in fourth, followed by Greg Ballard and Cheyenne Ballard.

5/20/06

The IL. Super Cups put on a spectacular show at Rockford Speedway.  19 open division drivers attended the first race at Rockford for the season.  Both the heat and the feature produced the tightest racing of the evening.  The evening went with out incident and all drivers loaded their race cars on their trailers in one piece. Mick Ellis won his heat and the feature with his white knuckle driving. Ken Jones remains the points leader with Erik Gehrke and Brandon Scurto now tied for second.

05/12/06

The Jr.'s second scheduled race of the season was cancelled due to rain.  They look forward to the first ever Jr. Super Cup race at the Mile next week.

05/05/06

Exciting action for the first night of Super Cup racing! The heat races were filled with 4 wide racing and 3 wide photo finishes. The feature race of 18 cars was the easily the fan-favorite race of the night! Jake Jump got out to a good lead, but a single car spin put him at the back and Ken Jones held off a pack of Dodges in Erik Gehrke, Steve Dorko, and Jeff Myers for the win.

04/29/06

IL.'s first race was subject to the weather and was officially cancelled by Rockford Speedway.
